In such a short time, Native Fashion in the City has grown from a small fashion show to the premier indigenous fashion event in North America.
Having just wrapped up our 5th year, we experienced milestones that certainly prove NFITC is a bona fide fashion week (despite not having “fashion week” in our name).
As your primer for what to expect, we have rounded up the top 4 reasons that make NFITC premier and why you should attend.
1 SEE THE HOTTEST FASHIONS ON STAGE
The NFITC runway is where you can get a sneak peek at the new and fresh pieces from some of Indian Country’s most sought-after designers. From emerging designers to experienced vets of the business, you can certainly find their fresh out of the workshop designs hit the runway.
2 IT’S ‘THE’ FASHION WEEK OF INDIAN COUNTRY
When NFITC founder Kelly Holmes planned the first NFITC event back in March 2013, she planned it exactly like a fashion week: focus on the designers and their designs, and connect them to buyers, influencers, media and the community at large to help them grow their businesses. Holmes visited fashion shows throughout Indian Country (as Editor-in-Chief of Native Max Magazine), and was disappointed in the shows’ disorganization and lack of presentation.
To this day, we organize NFITC like that of a fashion week. We’re serious about our event, which is why we screen every designer, model, stylist and photographer who wants to be apart of our event.
3 MINGLE WITH THE DESIGNERS AND MODELS AFTER THE SHOW
NFITC After the Show is the place to mingle with the faces of tomorrow, as well as catching up with those you already know and love. We have a step-and-repeat board complete with a red carpet, giving our audience the opportunity to snap photos at our photo booth.
NFITC draws media, buyers, and participants from all over the country, poised to help put Native Fashion on the global map.
